Over the past few weeks one of our club coaches, Stu Norgrove, has been hard at work, making some serious upgrades to our kitchen for the start of the season.

Wolverley FC and Wolverley Playing Fields were successful in a joint bid to get funding for a brand new kitchen facility as part of the Howdens and England football ‘Game Changer’ programme. Take a look at the before and after pics below.

The programme supports grassroots football with improved clubhouse facilities that are at the heart of communities around the UK.

Howdens are providing kitchens for 450 clubs, so lower-league teams have a hub where players and local people can congregate, nurture young talent, and keep the spirit of football alive.

Championed by football legends Jill Scott, Chris Kamara, and Julie Fleeting, these new club kitchens present valuable funding opportunities for small teams by giving them the facilities to serve food and drink. This makes them more attractive for external hire and less reliant on external funding to survive.

Gavin Jones, Wolverley FC Chairman, said: “The kitchen will enable us to improve our matchday experience. We can’t wait to see you all enjoying a hot drink or sandwich in the near future from The Crossbar cafe.

“A massive thank you to Stu for all the time he’s put in to install the new kitchen – it will make a real difference for us now, and for years to come.”

The Crossbar is open on most matchdays, please pop in and support the club when you’re watching a game at Mill Lane.
